POSITION: Tax Senior Accountant - Tampa STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
SUMMARY
Performs complex tax duties on a regular basis as well as trains and develops staff accountants.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Review of complex federal corporate (C and S) and multi-state tax returns, and intermediate level partnership returns.
- Review of all levels of individual returns.
- Review workpapers of staff and prepare and follow up on review notes.
- Review of tax line coding.
- Identify book/tax differences.
- Review tax provision.
- Research technical issues using online tools.
- Resolve minor issues directly with the IRS and other tax authorities. Assist with resolving more complex issues with IRS and other tax authorities.
- Assist in planning, budgeting, and billing engagements.
- Participate in client meetings. May lead client meetings with smaller clients.
- Participate in the tax planning process by reviewing planning projects completed by staff. Identify additional planning opportunities and prepare more complex projections.
- Understand and apply policies from tax quality control documents.
- Perform other duties as needed on engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years experience in public accounting with at least one year of review experience.
- Technical Skills
- Industry Experience
- Progress toward completion of CPA exam.
- Proficiency with personal computers including spreadsheet software programs. Experience with ProSystem fx, CCH, RIA, and/or Engagement is a plus.
EDUCATION and LICENSES
- Bachelor's degree in accounting. Masters preferred.
- CPA certified or the eligibility to work toward obtaining a CPA license.
